Undergraduate Students
Undergrads in the lab include volunteers, independent study students, honours students, research assistants, and exchange students. Undergraduates' primary responsibilities in the lab are:
Practice science according to ethical guidelines and best scientific practices
Follow lab protocols and rules
Check in regularly with the person supervising you
Be responsible and professional:
show up on time
when testing participants, dress and act in a professional manner (this doesn't mean you need to dress "up", but as the face of the lab you shouldn't look sloppy)
let people know if you can't make it to a meeting or testing session
let people supervising you know if you're having life problems that are interfering with your school/lab work
Learning outcomes of working in NCIL include:
Learn the practice of science, and specifically the type of cognitive neuroscience we do in NCIL
Develop skills in research methods
Understand and perform best scientific practices
Learn about a particular topic area
Learn and practice research ethics
Learn to work collaboratively
Learn to communicate science through
